Abstract
Two-door armoire or cabinet surmounted by large, stepped projecting flat cornice, all veneered with flame grain mahogany. Interior divided into two compartments: proper right with shelves, proper left for hanging. Four removable shelves of pine faced with mahogany rest on unidentified tropical hardwood supports screwed into case divider and side of case (same wood used for cornice glue blocks). Simple band of veneer around case bottom with small quarter round strip molding applied below (nailed). Cornice in two sections: upper projecting section flat with slightly beveled underside. Next section beneath repeats upper format, all atop case joined by small ogee molding. Doors mortised and tenoned to create frame in which floats veneered center panel. Solid mahogany sides with pine case bottom with mahogany rails on three sides. Back made of four pine boards with grain laid vertically with tongue at top and bottom; tongue slides into groove in case bottom; cornice grooved to fit over tongue at top of boards. Rear of boards have plane marks and are slightly beveled on sides. Cornice with unidentified tropical hardwood blocks joined to case sides by iron rod through pine case side glue blocks. Bottom of case secured in same manner of glue blocks and iron rods. Case sits on urn-like feet carved from solid blocks glued. Rear feet are inverted balusters on turned balls, stained, doweled into case. Hinges bolstered by additional glue blocks on inner faces of case sides.

Abstract
Survey map of properties adjacent to the Amite River, Ward's Creek, Iberville River, Bayou Manchac, and the Mississippi River. Shows property and lot lines, owners' names. Gives some dimensions. Heavily annotated. Original surveys done by Deputy Surveyor in 1821. Sectional line surveyed by John Gilmore and Stephen Roberts between 1821 and 1830. Oriented north.

Abstract
Born in Portland, Maine in 1808 * Son of Captain William Prentiss a prosperous shipmaster * Contracted a violent fever as an infant, and lost the use of his limbs for several years; his right leg never fully recovered * Graduated from Bowdoin College in Maine at age 17 * Began studying law in Gorham, Maine * In 1832, he moved to Vicksburg, Mississippi and won a suit involving title to the most valuable part of the city, making him one of the wealthiest men of Mississippi * Elected to the Mississippi State Legislature in 1835 * Elected to Congress in 1837, however, embarrassed by mounting financial troubles stemming from property investments made on disputed land holdings, served only one term in Congress * After Mississippi repudiated state bonds, Prentiss, who had opposed this action, moved to New Orleans in 1845 * In New Orleans, he was a leader of the bar, and prominent in philanthropic work * Died at age of 41 in 1850 * Interred in Gloucester Plantation Cemetery in Natchez

Petition of the estate of Widow Dara (or Darrea) Costanza to free the enslaved persons Carmelite (described as a negro wench of more than 30 years of age), her son William (described as the son of Carmelite, above 13 years of age), and Lucien (described as a young mulatto orphan boy of about 11 years of age). The petition is made by the executor of Costanza's estate, a free man of color named Pierre Fildeé.

Abstract
In this indenture, Charles Penne (described as a young free man of color of 19 years of age) is sponsored by his father, Fortune Penne, as an apprentice to Correjolles & Chaigneau to learn to be a bricklayer. In French.

Indentures in which at least one party was a free person of color were selected from among all of the indentures available. This identification was made either by the designation of an individual as a free person of color in the record or when a phenotypical description like "quadroon," "mulatto," or "Negro" was given and there was no information to indicate the person was enslaved.
