Abstract
A letter from Benjamin Griswold intended as a delayed reply to Lewis Tappan's letter from April 1, as he was out of town. In his letter, he states that he cannot "give you a decided answer because I do not yet know how permanent the arrangement will be, which you purpose to make for my support." He then says it would not be pleasant to be landed on the coast of Africa, sustained a year or two and then forsaken. Griswold does not know whether it would be possible "to find the people to which Cinque & his associates belong" and states it would be desirable to learn about the difficulty or ease of obtaining access to their country. He writes that he has offered his services to the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions and wishes to consult with the Board before replying to Tappan. He then mentions that he is ready "to go anywhere & suffer anything for Christ" and wishes to do "that by which I can do the most for poor, perishing Africa & the salvation of this dying world."

Abstract
Amélie Duplantier, Paris, writes her cousin Antoine Allard Duplantier, Voiron, France, addressing him consistently as 'cousin' and not in her more typical fashion of both 'cousin' and 'uncle.' She refers to his wife as 'Aunt Henriette' in the same letter. The writer relates that she has received seeds from Louisiana to send to the recipient care of a Louisiana priest who is travelling to Grenoble. The addresser describes the attributes of the types of plants the seeds might become. She tries to persuade the addressee to venture with her to 'our bad country and your good relatives' and in closing mentions 'my Aunt Henriette,' 'my dear little Isabelle,' and 'my dear Aunt Allard.'

Abstract
Armand Duplantier, Jr., St. James Parish, informs his cousin Antoine Frédérique Allard Duplantier, Voiron, France, of insects being sent through Perret. He states that he believes the recipient will have every type of Louisiana insect upon receiving the package. He adds that if the addressee wants more specimens, the latter will have to supply pins, as no one in the writer's area pursues insect collecting or has the appropriate supplies for mounting.

Abstract
A letter from S.M. Booth acknowledging Lewis Tappan's letter and providing suggestions of readings for the Africans at the upcoming meeting in New York. Booth suggests two readings: one from the Bible and one from a reader. He addresses the question of when a collection should be taken at the meeting, stating "If Kinna should make such an impression at New York as at Bloomfield it might be of some consequence to have him speak before the contribution is made." Booth mentions that he will travel to New York on Monday and asks if Tappan wishes to consult on the meeting's program. He writes that Tappan's letters have been delayed as they were sent to Farmington, Massachusetts, and not Farmington, Connecticut. Booth then adds that he hopes the will have the blessing of Heaven for the "exhibition of the capabilities & improvement of these representations of Africa."
