Survey of tract known as the Scotland Plantation. Heavily annotated. Rhea Tract shaded yellow. Youngblood Tract shaded green. Russ Tract shaded light red; Gibbens Tract dark red. Taylor Tract ("Scotland") shaded yellow and green. Map worn, creased, and spotted from age and folding. Some text illegible. Later note added: 'E.B.R. area now in N.B.R. subd.' Scale not given.

Abstract
Twelve documents related to free persons of color in Louisiana, dating from colonial times through reconstruction. The papers include an agreement by Rodulfo Dueros to pay the rent of Francisco Dorville, described as a free mulatto, in return for Dorville's construction of a sidewalk; the lease of a city-owned house given to James Johnson, a free man of color; and a recognizance or peace bond against Gabriel Jeanot, a free man of color. Also included are four promise-to-pay notes by the City of New Orleans to three free persons of color: Victor, Janette Doqueminy, and Marie Jeanne Villamil (the latter two were landowners). Two reports by a New Orleans doctor indicate the number of persons under his care, including one mentioning the death of a mulatto man of Captain Pemberton's. Also present are the printed copy of the Louisiana Constitutional Convention's Emancipation Report and two labor agreements between Louisiana planters and freedmen. In Spanish, French, and English.
