Abstract
Photograph, ca 1952-1956 of Addison Provost from New Iberia. Out of high school, Addison joined the army and went to Korea, putting him there at the end of the Korean war. He came back to New Iberia when his sister died, becoming a welder and helped raise his sister's children, with the help of his mother. Korean War was the last American conflict involving segregated units.

Newspaper photograph and caption: "Great Cajun Country documentary due here Friday. The beautiful still above is from 'Cajun,' formerly titled 'The Louisiana Story,' one of the last documentaries made by the brilliant Robert J. Flaherty before his untimely death last year. Filmed in the Petit Anse bayou country of southern Louisiana, this is a pictorial dramatization of life in the little-known swampland. The simple habits of the people, their fear of the deadly alligator, and the excitement of a quest for oil are depicted through the eyes of a small boy, Joseph Boudreaux. A year and three months went into the filming of the piece which Flaherty liked to refer to as 'a sort of fantasy.' It deals principally with the Acadian lad, Joseph, and his family who follow an ancient mode of living in the bayou country, and their association with an oil-drilling crew. And threaded through the picture, along with folk tunes of the country, is the magnificent score 'Louisiana Story,' composed especially for the occassion by the distinguished American composer Virgil Thomson."
