Abstract
Photograph, ca 1952-1956 of Addison Provost from New Iberia. Out of high school, Addison joined the army and went to Korea, putting him there at the end of the Korean war. He came back to New Iberia when his sister died, becoming a welder and helped raise his sister's children, with the help of his mother. Korean War was the last American conflict involving segregated units.

Martin served as an assistant attorney general for Louisiana from 1936-40 and practiced law from 1940 until his election as Louisiana Secretary of State in 1944. Democratic Secretary of State of Louisiana under five governors (from 1944 to 1976). He was also instrumental in the creation of the Louisiana State Archives.
