Abstract
A photograph of an early class in the Sosthene Arceneaux school in Carencro. The school was near the home of Sosthene Arceneaux, and some teachers rented rooms from him. Sosthene donated his land to the diocese while the school remained on it, and Katherine Drexel donated some funds for the creation of the one room schoolhouse.

Abstract
A cotton carder stamped with "No. 10 Cotton Plantation Only Genuine Whittemore. Patent Warrented L. S. Watson and Co. Leicester, Mass." The same paddle has "H.B." written on it, and the other paddle has a mark on it. 9" long, paddle 10 7/8" wide. Cecile Landry Daigle recieved this cotton carder from her aunt, who grew up on the Billeaud Plantation in Broussard between 1899 and 1997.
