Abstract
Pamphlet by Bernard Marigny, published in New Orleans (1848) by J. L. Sollée, entitled: Réflexions sur la Campagne du Général André Jackson, en Louisiane, en 1814 et 1815, par Bernard Marigny, né à la Nouvelle-Orléans en 1785, membre du Comité de Défense nommé par la Chambre des Reprèsentans en 1814; ex-Président du Sénat de la Louisiane; membre de la Convention qui Érigea le Territoire d'Orléans en État, en 1812; et membre de la Convention de 1844 et 1845 qui Donna une Nouvelle Constitution àcet État.

In the pamphlet, Marigny attempts to correct the impression of most Americans that Louisianans of French descent were not zealous in their defense of New Orleans by discussing those who fought in the Battle, organized committees of defense, etc., trying to make the point that the battle could not have been won without the locals. He includes in his descriptions the actions of many specific individuals, including free people of color. In French.

Abstract
The Johnson family ledger contains record of expenses for purchases of fabric, shoes, and clothing for the Johnson family children dating from March 1852 to August 1859. The book was probably kept by Ann Battles Johnson, a free woman of color and the wife of William T. Johnson, a free man of color. The ledger was created shortly after her husband's murder in 1851, when she had assumed the responsibility of managing the family household and businesses.

The back of the ledger contains some day book entries discussing the children's schooling and music lessons. The binding of the book includes some doodles and the signatures of Richard Johnson and Anna Johnson, the children of Ann Battles and William T. Johnson.

Abstract
Legal and financial papers of the Johnson family for the years 1854-1859 include receipts and invoices for goods and services, receipts for rent, and tax receipts of Ann Battles Johnson, following the 1851 death of her husband William Johnson, a free man of color. Many of the tax receipts are for money owed from the estate of William Johnson.

Receipts of Ann Battles Johnson include receipts for furniture, the hire of a horse, purchase of coal, a gold ring, dentistry, fabric, and other goods. Included is a slave bill of sale for an enslaved man named ""Clifton,"" sold to Ann Battles Johnson by Catharine and John Brumley.

Abstract
Correspondence of Ann Battles Johnson and William Johnson, both free persons of color of Natchez, Mississippi, primarily relates family news and family business matters between the Johnsons and extended family members and friends during the Antebellum period.

Correspondents include: James Miller, Adelia Miller, Lavinia Miller McCrary, Byron Johnson, Phoebe Smith, John Chavoir, William Mosby, Ann Battles Johnson, William Johnson, and Washington Stern.

Letters from James Miller to his brother-in-law, William Johnson, concern barbering and their respective shops and family news. Members of the Miller family write from their home in New Orleans to discuss family news. Included is an 1848 funeral notice written in French for the burial of James Miller's son, James Miller Jr. in New Orleans. Also included is a letter from Ann Battles Johnson's sister, Phoebe Smith, discussing themes of marriage, children, health, and religion (dated 1853). An 1833 letter from Lawrence W. Minor of New Orleans to Ann Battles Johnson describes her son and William Johnson Jr.'s progress with his schooling and good behavior.

Of note is an 1849 letter from William Mosby of Jefferson County, Indiana to William Johnson describing Baylor Winn, the man who William Johnson accused of shooting him, as a ""...black-hearted wretch and those in co. with him no better."" One item in French.
