Abstract
B&W photo, 1935. Text on the back of the photograph reads: The New Orleans Mardi Gras. A Scene from the Children's Carnival Pageant. Nor, the child king of Mardi Gras, reigns in New Orleans on the Saturday preceding Mardi Gras. At the head of a colorful pageant of 58 floats, he greets his loyal subjects, and particularly his Queen who awaits him on Canal street. His pageant usually depicts some phase of New Orleans history with the details being executed by New Orleans school children under the supervision of selected teachers. His 1935 subject was "The Streets of New Orleans" and the float illustrated here represents "Abundance Street." Nor's next appearance will be on Saturday, Febuary 22, 1936.

Abstract
Text, date unknown, circa 1930s. Mid-Winter Sports Carnival. Description of the Mid-Winter sports carnival, offering several days of amateur sports activities in the latter part of December and early January annually and ends with a football game on New Year's Day. The events are sponsored by the New Orleans Mid-Winter Sports Association. The history of the association and historic games are discussed as well.

B/W photo, 1930s. Written on photo: "Rex, the Merry Monarch of the Day, greets Mayor Walmsley. Emerging from his mystic den, His Carnival Majesty, who is in fact one of the city's social and business leaders, becomes absolute dictator over the revelry that has brought world fame to the unique New Orleans festival. His brilliant pageant moves at noon in a sea of merry humans through the principal streets of New Orleans, while aboard the 20 floats members of his krewe dispense favors to the multitudes. In the evening Rex is host at a royal ball and at 11 p.m. he and his queen leave to pay a royal call on the Court of Comus, the oldest of the numerous New Orleans Mardi Gras Krewes. An hour later the bells of St. Louis Cathedral bring Carnival to a close and call the community's congregations to 40 days of Lenten fasting and prayer." Swans decorate the King's float.

B/W photo, 1930s. Women playing golf on the Audubon Park golf course in New Orleans. Written on back of photo: Playing golf in New Orleans’ Audubon Park. Because of an ideal climatic condition, golf is played on the New Orleans evergreen courses throughout the year. The 18 hole Audubon Golf Course (5, 718 yards), shown in this photograph, is open to guests of members and patrons of leading hotels. Two 18 hole public links, with professional instruction available, are located in the City Park. Many other courses are to be found in the city. Several golf tournaments, which include the Men's City Open, the Women's City Tournament, intercollegiate tournament during the Mid-Winter Sports Carnival and the $10,000 Crescent City Open held the week before Mardi Gras, are making many Orleanians "golf minded" and are attracting golfers from all parts of the country to the city.

Abstract
B/W photo, 1930s. Mardi Gras Parade in New Orleans, Louisiana. Written on back of photograph: Maskers crowd the streets and sights come and go with breath-taking rapidity on Mardi Gras Day in New Orleans. The street parades consist of from seventeen to twenty lumbering, horse-drawn, glittering, papier mache floats, adorned and bedecked with tinsel. They portray some theme, always emblazoned on the second or title float. The festivities officially start on January 6 and extend through Mardi Gras Day which is "Fat Tuesday," forty days preceding Easter Sunday. Some thirty bells are given and during the last five days of the Carnival season, scores of street parades and numerous other events take place.
