B&W photo, November 30, 1934. Frank's Island lighthouse, built 1823. Detail of inscription on North Elevation. This lighthouse served from 1823 to 1856, when the Pass a'Loutre Lighthouse was built and took its place. Completely collapsed in 2002. Located at the North East Pass, Mississippi River. Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana.

Abstract
B&W photo, circa 1968. Avery Island, Louisiana. Historical Marker for salt mines. Sign reads: First Rock Salt Mine. Salt evaporated from brine springs on Avery Island since 1791. On May 4, 1862, workmen enlarging these springs to produce more salt for the Confederacy hit solid salt at a depth of 16 feet. Mining operations, the first of this type in North America, were begun and continued until destruction of the salt works on April 17, 1863 by Union forces.

Abstract
B&W photo, February 25, 1972. Randall Oak. Located on False River Drive (Highway 1) in Mix, La., approximately two miles outside the city limits of New Roads, La. Pointe Coupee Parish. The poem "Maryland! My Maryland!" was written in April, 1861, on False River while James Randall was Professor of English in the Poydras College of Pointe Coupee. The poem was later put to music. Written on photo: The tree is estimated to be over 300 years old.

B&W photo, 1970s. Historical marker at the Claiborne Parish courthouse. Homer, Louisiana. Written on photo: Greek Revival building built in 1860. Brick walls, brick Doric colonnade surrounds building. Only example of this type of architecture in the Northern part of the state. One of only four extant ante-bellum courthouses in Louisiana. Only two of the original live oak trees remain. This court house was the point of departure for Confederate troops during the Civil War.

B&W photo, 1968. Historic Marker denoting history of Mandeville, Louisiana. Written on marker: "Mandeville. Named for Pierre Philippe de Marigny de Mandeville, land owner during the late seventeen hundreds. Near this site Bienville met, in 1699, Acolapissas who reported that, two days before, their village had been attacked by two Englishmen and 200 Chickasaws. English were rivalling the French for this area."
