Written on photo: Vermilion Bayou -- the left bank of which is part of the back yard to Long Plantation Mansion. Its beauty is not appreciable from a mere kodak picture. It was here a boat was sunk either during or before the Civil War. It is here Mr. Fred W. Chapman found barrels of flour and lime when the Vermilion Bayou was being dredged a few years ago. And, it is here that cargoes from New Orleans and Texas were often landed."

Written on photo: Clapboard exterior, with five-bay front and rear two story galleries with square posts and molded capitals. Broad hip roof with pair of altered dormers, front and rear. Most of the original glass, hardware, and flooring survive. Home of Favrot and Wilkinson families, both prominent in local politics.
