Biographical Note
James Pirrie Bowman (1832-1927) was the son of Eliza Pirrie (1805-1851) and Reverend William R. Bowman (1800-1835). He married Sarah Turnbull (1831-1914) in 1857 and resided with family at Rosedown Plantation in West Feliciana Parish. As a cotton and sugar planter, Bowman also managed Frogmoor and Bayou Grosse Tete plantations in Pointe Coupee Parish.
