Abstract
Business records of Jean Baptiste Meullion, a free man of color, including bills of sale for his accounts with Debuys and Laune, Arnaud Carraby, and S. S. (Simon?) Bernard. Includes a slave bill of sale for the transfer of Mary, age 33, from Theophilus Elmer. Also present is a letter and map from M. Pellechet to T. F. Mezieula (J. B. Meullion?) confirming the accuracy of his land survey. Documents are in French except for slave bill of sale.

Mandat de Payment (order to pay) $6.50 to Julie Robert, described as a free mulatto woman, for the twenty-six days that her enslaved person Blaise worked on the municipal chain gang. The Mayor of New Orleans, N. Girod, issued these pay bills or cash vouchers to authorize the City Treasurer to remunerate individuals for services rendered to the City.
