Abstract
The bulk of materials comprise receipts, bills of sale, mortgages, and other legal and financial documents that record land and slave purchase transactions of Baptiste Meullion primarily with Alexandre DeClouet, Andrés Duclot, and Charles Vivant. Others appearing in the records are the sisters Clemencia, Eufrocina, and Mariana Hisnard (noted as free mulattoes), Michel Prudhomme, André Neraut, and Jean Soulié, and the enslaved persons Lindone, Judith, and Jeffy and their children Jeffy, Louisa, and Eliza, Carlos, Aggy, and Peter. The transactions were effected in St. Landry Parish, New Orleans, and the German Coast of Louisiana. Included among these is a receipt for Baptiste Meullion's purchase of enslaved children from another Meullion from the German Coast, possibly some of his family members. The earliest item records Luis Augustin Meullion's manumission of Baptiste Meullion and his mother, Maria Juana, in consideration of her service to Luis's father Antonio Meullion and her recent conversion to Catholicism, and on the condition that they remain in service to him during his lifetime. An agreement for Mariana Meullion's rental of a tract of land known as Longueville is also included, as are certificates or licenses for Baptiste Meullion's carriages and a report of damage to his cotton shipped to LeHavre, France. Also includes a summons from the Saint Landry Parish Justice of the Peace to settle a complaint made by Robert C. Fryar. A bill of sale for the account of Baptiste Lafleur with Lauvi Toledano is also present. All documents are in French except for summons.

Primarily legal documents notarized in the year 1825 by Jean Pierre Marie Dubois, justice of the peace of Natchitoches Parish, including land sales, slave bills of sale, emancipation records, appointments of proxies, successions, and estate inventories. Papers relating to free people of color include a court testimony by Joseph Metoyer regarding the discovery of a stray horse in Cloutierville, and two documents relating to the emancipation of Louis Monet (also spelled Monette) by Marie Louise Lecomte (Widow Porter). The bulk of the documents are in French.

Abstract
Chiefly notarized documents including land sales, slave bills of sale, bills of sale, successions, estate inventories, and reports filed by various people in Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana in 1826. Several documents concern the Metoyers, a family of free people of color who founded the Cane River community. A slave bill of sale transfers an enslaved female from Dominique Metoyer, fils (likely J. B. Dominique), to his brother-in-law, Pierre Rachal, also a free man of color. Also present is a slave bill of sale by Pierre Metoyer to his son, also named Pierre Metoyer. A bill of sale conveys two stray horses to Pierre Derbanne and Joseph Metoyer. Also included is the last will and testament of Marie Agnes, wife of Augustin Metoyer. In French.
