Painting shows small service vessels at stern of warship and landing party going ashore. Captain W. Morris with two squads of marines, probably the landing party going ashore, replaced the Confederate flag with the United States flag at the U.S. Mint in the Vieux Carre on April 26, 1862. The Pensacola, one of the Union ships that arrived at New Orleans on April 25, 1862, was in the fleet of Admiral David G. Farragut during the occupation of New Orleans during the Civil War.

Abstract
View of a German submarine, in the Mississippi River. The UB-88 surrendered along with other warships soon after the 11 November armistice in 1918. The United States acquired the submarine along with other vessels to use for training purposes and in a bond campaign. The UB-88 was sent to various ports along the east cost south of Savannah, Georgia, ports on the Gulf coast, and up the Mississippi River as far as Memphis, Tennessee.
