Abstract
Text, January 28, 1868. Highway Robbery. Published in the Tri-Weekly Advocate. Road side robbery of travelers from Livingston Parish near Baton Rouge. The victims were A.L. and H. Zeigler and Jno. A. Smiley of Livingston Parish. They were robbed by one white and one African American man, posing as a United States officer and soldier, respectively.

Abstract
Text, June 23, 1867. A goat owned by esteemed citizen Captain Dan Hickok, is stolen and taken by the young robber to the "pound" in exchange for money. In order for the owner to retrieve it, he must pay a fee, even though it was stolen. Author is against the current law that allows anyone to "seize" animals, take them to the pound, and get paid for it.

Text, September 5, 1879. Miles Walker starts for Kansas with Another Mans Mule. He is Captured at Hickman, Kentucky. Account from Sheriff J.W. Bates, who returned on the steamboat John Wilson following the capture and subsequent escape of Miles Walker who stole a mule and left for the "promised land" (Kansas).

Abstract
Text, June 22, 1867. Article addressing two women, Mrs. Mary E. Reynolds and Mrs. Ann Kidd, at a New Orleans police station attempting to procure the arrest of two goat catchers, Henry Nelson and Philip Brown, African Americans, on charge of assault and battery. It appears that the two accused attempted to seize the goats belonging to the two women and assailed the two women. At this time stray animals could be taken to the animal pound where the captor would collect a fee.

Abstract
The condemnation of negro slave Basouvant, owned by Dame Trepanier, for theft of clothes from the hospital. The Council orders that he be lashed and branded with the letter "V" on his right shoulder. The Council also approves the sale of negroes and negresses coming from Saint-Domingue owned by Sr. Frejiere. It is noted that the decree rendered on July 9, 1763 concerning the importation of slaves from Saint-Domingue to Louisiana will apply as well to those from Martinique and other islands.

Abstract
Sr. Lenormand declares that in company with Sieurs Paul Rasteau and Jacques Judice, witnesses, he repaired, on the petition of Sr. Marsilly, to the room on his plantation in which were kept most of the movables of said succession, and which was broken into on the night "between the 25th and 26th of the present month," for the purpose of robbery. Upon being interrogated, the black slave who has been left in charge states that he had been called away temporarily by the illness of one of his children; that upon his return he found a broken shutter and sash in the bedroom usually occupied by Sr. Marsilly; that the door of said room was broken, or open (word torn out); and that the upper double door of the buffet was open. The parties found said window and So. Marsilly declared that he has missed nothing from said room, but that there was missing from the buffet a quantity of valuable silverware, on some of which appeared armorial bearings, and perhaps some table linen and pewter articles.

Report of robbery and abduction by Antoine Aufrere and Francois Jehan, who files the complaint that on Sept. 26, Aufrere's dugout canoe was forcibly seized while moored at the mouth of Bayou St. John by one Kemper and four soldiers of the guard house, who also abducted six black slaves. Prosecution and examination of runaway slave named Pierrot of Biefada Nation who said he was about 30 years of age and baptized. Charged with marooning. Interrogation of accused by Guilhet. The following information was brought out: His name is Charles Desmercier, Ecuyer Labrde, age 32 or thereabout; that he killed Ponteul in self-defense with Ponteul's gun after he (Pontuel) had aimed at accused and dropped the gun; that he left the dead man at "Ville aux Chats" at the Point; that he was once arrested at Mobile for theft; that Ponteul repeatedly tried to persuade him to desert, and this is what actually lead to the argument which ended in the killing.
