Abstract: Thomas Butler, Aide-de-camp to Major General Andrew Jackson, lists the items and prices of medical supplies provided by Wilson to the Choctaw Indians in the service of the United States, ordering the Adjutant Deputy Quarter Master General to pay the expenses. At the bottom of the page, Wilson attests that the expenses were paid.

Abstract: The British Army issued this powder horn. Carved on the horn is the British order of battle prior to the attack of January 8, 1815; British corps and regiments depicted in front of "Rodrigue's Canal" separating British and American forces. The inscription "XCV G Rex" refers to the 95th Rifle Regiment (Prince Consort's), one of the earliest units to land below New Orleans and the victors of the fierce night battle of December 23. This regiment also formed part of General Gibbs' 3rd Battalion in the attack of January 8, 1815. Beneath the inscription is a cartouche with the motto "Celer et Audax" (Swift and Courageous). The carvings include the British firing Congreve rockets, the handling of scaling ladders, American cannons on the redoubt of their right flank, a compass, a colored American flag flying over Jackson's headquarters, the cypress swamp on the American left flank and a large carved compass. The only fictional aspects are the small British cutters shown on the Mississippi River. After their defeat, the British re-boarded their ships on January 17-18. This horn likely was carved on the return trip to England. Scrimshaw was a popular form of graphic art practiced by soldiers and sailors at sea.

Abstract: Round lacquered papier-mache snuffbox with engraved and watercolored battle scene on its lid. The representation is inaccurate, with U.S. forces dressed in French Napoleonic uniforms and a European castle wall as part of American lines. Ships and a mountain range are visible in the background. The source of the illustration likely originally depicted a European battle and the creator of this object appropriated it to represent New Orleans for European and American audiences unfamiliar with the topography of Louisiana and the actual conditions of the battle.

Thomas reports on plantation matters including sugarcane, corn, potato, and pumpkin cultivation. He also discusses the construction of roads, the illegal felling of McDonogh's timber, and his concerns that Shepherd Brown, McDonogh's partner, may attack the people of Bayou.

Abstract: Thomas Bolling Robertson was born in Prince George County, Va., graduated from William and Mary College in 1795, and practiced law in Virginia until he moved to the Territory of Orleans in 1805. In 1807, Thomas Jefferson appointed him secretary of the territory. He held several state offices, was Louisiana's first member of the House of Representatives, 1812-1818, was governor, 1820-1824, and became a United States judge for the District of Louisiana in 1824. In this letter to "Dear Sir," Robertson refers to the War of 1812, commending the recipient of his letter on Virginia's reception of the British and expressing his concerns about British and Spanish loyalists in Louisiana, as well as friction between the French and American residents and the potential harm the diverse population, "a thing of shreds and patches," poses in the war. He also mentions his standing in the recent election.

Abstract: Letter written by Thomas Robertson at Baton Rouge, La., to his sister, M.B. [Miss Mary B.] Robertson of Richmond, Va, in which he describes the Bogue Chitto, Tickfaw, Tchefuncte, and Tanghipahoa rivers in St. Tammany Parish, as well as Baton Rouge, La. He comments on the insects, scenery, resources, crops, and usefulness of the land for agriculture, and mentions his visit with and election of Fulwar Skipwith of Baton Rouge. Robertson also comments on the allegiance of the residents of the Florida Parishes to the United States and the emigration of some French and Spanish Louisianans to Campeache in Spanish Texas.

Abstract: This letter is one from a collection of four letters from Lieutenant Colonel Edward Nicholls, commander of the British forces in the Floridas, and Captain William H. Percy, Senior Officer of the Gulf of Mexico. They were signed and certified as true copies by Governor William C. C. Claiborne in the same year. Nicholls and Percy attempted to persuade the citizens of New Orleans, the Kentuckians residing in Louisiana, and Jean Lafitte to cooperate with the British in effecting the fall of the city. The British offered the citizens of New Orleans relief from "the American usurpation," and the Kentuckians free navigation of the Mississippi River and the right to deposit in New Orleans. The Baratarians were offered protection of their property, a full pardon, and land in the British colonies. In return, they were to give their vessels to the British and end harassment of the Spanish.
