Abstract
This satiric poem of five stanzas, printed on a single sheet and attributed only to "Cougie," celebrates the departure of General Butler from New Orleans. The poem contains references to Butler's infamous General Order No. 28, often called the "Woman's Order."

Abstract
Material consists of letters written to Sarah J. Terrell, a fragment of an invoice, and an advertisement for medicinal remedies available from the Johnson, Holloway and Company. Partial letters relate to family matters. Also present is a brief love poem with financial accounts, which appear to have been written later.

Abstract
Miscellaneous literary manuscripts are comprised of handwritten poetry (mostly copies of poems by noted poets) and songs belonging to William Johnson, a free man of color, and his son, Byron Johnson, born a free person of color. Also included is a typewritten copy of Fredrick Douglass' 1888 ""Address to the Colored Citizens of the United States""; a school report on the life of John Greenleaf Whittier; a handwritten copy of ""De Senectute""; and a handwritten prayer. Some of the materials dating after 1872 were most likely those of William Johnson's daughter, Anna Johnson, who was a schoolteacher in Natchez.

Abstract
The notebook of Kate Johnson is approximately dated 1864-1874 and contains her verse, verse composed by her sister Anna Johnson, and verse composed by noted poets, such as Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and Lord Tennyson. Sadness, death, and longing for the happier times of childhood are prominent themes in Kate Johnson's verse. Anna Johnson's verse explores themes of love and regret.

Born in New Orleans, Adrian Roquette ranks higher in French poetry than Lowell in American, yet is practically unmentioned as one of our native geniuses. The article describes his upbringing and schooling in Louisiana, his move to France, his death in New Orleans and also includes some of Roquette's poems.
